Simon says sorry for making Aidan cry

Simon Cowell has apologised on national television for making Aidan Davis cry in the final of Britain’s Got Talent.

He told viewers of the GMTV breakfast show he made an error of judgment and regretted his negative comments which upset Simon after his performance in the final.

‘I felt really bad when I made Aidan cry in the final. That’s when I thought I went too far,’ he said.

Simon said he had been unsure whether to talk to Aidan ‘like an adult or a kid’ when commenting on his performance.

‘I made the wrong call because actually it was the most important night of his life and I upset him. That really, really hurt me - I had hurt him and I felt terrible,’ Simon continued.

‘I apologised to him straight afterwards and told him I shouldn’t have said that - I think you are brilliant.

‘ At the time I thought, how could I have said that, when I watched his reaction,’ he added.

Meanwhile Aidan is continuing to wow his fans while performing on the Britain’s Got Talent tour which kicked off in Birmingham, where Aidan lives, last week.

Chance to see Aidan ‘live’ on BGT tour

It was back to school today for Aidan Davis - but he'll soon be thrilling the crowds again with his impressive dance routines.

The 12-year-old will join the other finalists from Britain's Got Talent 2009 for the roadshow tour which gets underway at Birmingham National Indoor Arena on June 12.

It's not known yet, however, whether or not singer Susan Boyle, will be taking part in the tour.

Susan, who came second in the contest, was admitted to the Priory clinic yesterday after she was reportedly 'acting strangely' at her London hotel.

Meanwhile, there have been reports that Aidan may be in the running to become a member of Diversity, the impressive dance act who won the Britain's Got Talent title.

Aidan's local newspaper the Birmingham News has reported that his mum, Mandy Williams, has not ruled out the possibility of him becoming the 12th member of Diversity.

She said her son is very friendly with the members of Diversity: 'They have done nothing but dance together this week', she said: 'Aidan used to want to be a policeman but now he’s friends with Diversity, who knows!'

Aidan, a pupil at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, in Kings Norton, Birmingham, was in tears after his performance in the final, as a result of some harsh remarks from one of the judges Simon Cowell.

But he was fine the next day and coming to terms with  the situation: 'It was such an emotional day and I think everything got on top of him,” his mum explained. 'But Simon apologised to him and he’s great this morning.'

The Britain's Got Talent tour dates are: Birmingham National Indoor Arena (June 12); Sheffield Arena (June 13); Manchester Evening News Arena (June 14); Glasgow SECC (June 15); Edinburgh Playhouse (June 16); Newcastle-upon-Tyne Metro Radio Arena (June 17); Liverpool Echo Arena (June 18); Cardiff International Arena (June19); Trent FM Arena - Nottingham (June 20); Wembley Arena  (June 21); Aberdeen Exhibition Centre (June 23); Birmingham National Indoor Arena (June 24); Coventry City FC Ricoh Arena (June 25) and Bournemouth International Centre (June 26).

Professor’s words of advice to Aidan

An American professor believes Aidan Davis could go on to great things if he works hard at his dancing.

In a message to this site, Gabriele Boccaccini, a history professor at the University of Michegan, heaped praise on the talented young dancer.

'I am neither an artist nor a performer but I grew up in the opera and dance theatre as my family was for generations in the show business', he said.

'I would like to tell Aidan and his family only one thing - Aidan has a lot of talent, but it is time for him to study hard, be part of a dance school and learn from experienced teachers and role models', Mr Boccaccini continued.

'Talent is essential but without hard study one goes nowhere. Joining Diversity or any other dance school or group, where he can learn, would be a good idea.

Mr Boccaccini stressed: 'Aidan is only 12 years old and self-taught. Thinking that he is already an accomplished performer could give him a few years of success as a child prodigy but would be the greatest mistake he could make.

'Aidan has the potential of becoming a great dancer and choreographer but if his goal is to have a long and serious career - and not a quick share of celebrity - years of hard and humble study are necessary. Good luck Aidan!' he added.

Aidan’s still a winner with the fans!

Young Aidan Davis didn’t manage to win this year’s Britain’s Got Talent contest - but he’s still a winner in the eyes of his fans.

The talented 12-year-old who wowed the nation throughout the contest with his amazing body-popping dance skills and cheeky smile can hold his head up high.

This is surely just the beginning for Aidan and we can expect to hear plenty more about the Birmingham schoolboy in the months ahead. - you cannot have that level of talent and not go on to great things.

He’s still only 12 years old and has the world at his feet - and can only get better and better as he continues to perfect his incredible dance skills.

Maybe it was just asking a bit too much of him to perform two nights in a row - after a late night in the semi finals he couldn’t have had much time to rest and prepare for the final tonight.

But there’s no taking it away from dance band Diversity who turned on the style with a polished routine, pushing hot favourite Susan Boyle into second place. The Scottish singer was gracious in defeat and declared ‘the best people won.’ Saxophonist Julian Smith took third place.

Minutes after the result was declared this site was blitzed with messages of support from Aidan’s loyal fans. Some are published already on the Aidan Davis messages page and others will be added tomorrow.

One thing’s for sure - we haven’t heard the last of Aidan Davis - he’ll be around for a long time yet, amazing us all with his dazzling dance skills.

Oh boy - he’s in the final!

Aidan Davis cruised into the final of Britain’s Got Talent 2009 with another foot perfect performance on the show tonight.

Aidan blew the audience away with a stunning body-popping routine which featured a dazzling multi-image video effect on screen behind him.

He qualified for the final after winning the public vote and will be joined by 11-year–old Hollie Steel who won the judges vote.

Now talented 12-year-old Aidan will line up against the other nine acts in tomorrow night’s showdown final to see who will win the £100,000 cash prize and the chance to perform in front of the Queen in the Royal Variety Performance.

At the start of tonight’s show Aidan said: ‘ This is the biggest night of my life - I don’t want it to end’. Well now he’s got an even bigger night tomorrow in the final.

The show’s judges were hugely impressed with Aidan’s fantastic performance tonight : ‘Whatever it is, you’ve got it - total confidence, total charisma’, Simon Cowell told him.

Amanda Holden was equally praising: ‘ You absolutely blew me away’, she told Aidan, while Piers Morgan added: ‘ You have something very special - it’s a delight to watch you.’

There was controversy earlier in the show when Holly Steel broke down in tears while performing the Sound of Music favourite Edelweiss.

However, after some confusion among the show’s production team, it was agreed she could have a second attempt later in the show after an assurance from Simon Cowell that they would find time to fit her again.

Second time round she made it to the end of the song without a problem, with the judges heaping praise on her for showing determination and courage. The judges had to decide whether to put Hollie or singer Greg Pritchard through - Hollie got all three of their votes.

The newspaper headlines today focused on hot favourite Susan Boyle who has threatened to quit the show due to the pressure of her overnight fame and sniping remarks in the Press.

One thing’s for sure - if the constant flow of messages of support this site has received for young Aidan is anything to go by, he must be in with a very real chance of winning the title tomorrow night.

As Aidan prepares for the biggest performance of his life, the message from his fans remains the same as before ... short and sweet -

GO FOR IT LAD - YOU CAN DO IT!

Countdown begins for Aidan

The stage is set for Aidan Davis’ bid to secure a place in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent final.

The talented young dancer will take part in the last of the semi finals tomorrow night (Friday) in his quest to make it to Saturday’s star-studded final.

Tonight saw saxophonist Julian Smith and grandfather and granddaughter singing act Two Grand qualify for the final - Julian won though as the viewers’ choice and Two Grand qualified when they got the vote from judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden.

In an ITV news interview after the show, BGT judge Piers Morgan revealed that hot favourite to win the title, Susan Boyle, is considering quitting the show due to pressure and criticism in the Press.

Aidan will have to really turn on the talent tomorrow night as he faces some stiff competition from the other seven acts - DCD Deniors (dance group), Hollie Steel (singer/ballet dancer), Greg Pritchard (singer), Good Evans (singers), Luke Clements (performer), the Dreambears (dance/entertainment) and Martin Matcham (musician).

The message from all your fans Aidan is simple - Go for it, lad!

Nail-biting time for singer Shaheen

Making it to the Britain’s Got Talent final was no easy ride for young singer Shaheen Jafargholi.

The public’s choice in tonight’s semi final went to father and son dance act Stavros Flatley, leaving the judges to decide who would join them.

Their choice was between Liverpool’s MD Show Group and Shaheen.

Simon Cowell awarded his vote to the 30 youngsters in MD, while Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan voted for Shaheen, clearing the way for him to Saturday’s final.

There is no semi-final tomorrow night (Wednesday) due to the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Barcelona. On Thursday night’s semi final last year’s BGT winner George Sampson will make a guest appearance.

With just two semi finals left, Aidan will be making his bid to qualify for the final on either Thursday or Friday - the word on various websites is that his appearance will be on Friday, although this is unconfirmed.

The latest betting for the title shows Flawless at 6/1 moving up into second place behind Susan Boyle who is odds on favourite to win. Aidan Davis drops down to joint third position with Shaheen Jafargholi at 7/1.

Flawless performance by dance group

If Aidan Davis makes it through to Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent final, the two latest qualifiers he’ll be up against are dance band Flawless and singer Sean Smith.

Flawless turned in a brilliant performance and sailed through to the final after winning the public vote. The judges choice was between ventriloquist Gareth Oliver and singer Shaun Smith, with Sean making it through by two votes to one.

One of the favourites to win this year’s title Jamie Pugh was unable to conquer his nerves and turned in a below-par performance which cost him a place in the final.

Flawless and Shaun are now in the final alongside Susan Boyle and Diversity. The two dance groups Diversity and Flawless are really top class acts and Aidan - if he makes it to the final - will have to pull out all the stops to beat them.

Tomorrow's (Tuesday) semi-finalists are Shaheen Jafagholi (singer), Harmony (singer), Floral Highnotes (singer and floral display), Ben and Becky (dancers), MD Show Group (dance group), Stavros Flatly (dancers),  Kayode Oresanya (human saxophone) and The Barrow Boys (wheelbarrow dance act).

Susan Boyle is still the one to beat

Scottish singer Susan Boyle is still the hot favourite to win Britain’s Got Talent after winning her semi final tonight.

Also going through to the final with her is dance group Diversity who performed a very impressive routine on the theme of Mission Impossible.

Diversity made it through when it was left to the judges to decide whether young singer Natalie Okri or the dance group should join Susan Boyle in the final.

Aidan Davis is still second favourite to win the contest at odds of 11/2 in the bookmakers, although he still has to perform in his semi final later this week.

Aidan makes it to the semi finals

Aidan Davis has made it through to the semi finals of the contest.

Joining him will be 39 other acts who will battle it out in the final stages of the 2009 Britain's Got Talent contest.

There were a few surprises when judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan whittled down the 200 who had made it through to the ‘deliberation’ stage of the contest.

The biggest shock was that 12-year-old drummer boy Kieran Gaffney failed to make it to the last 40. His performance on the show had been very impressive and most people thought he would sail through.

In the ITV2 extra show after Saturday's main programme Aidan joined in a light-hearted 'dance-off' with 73-year-old break dancer Fred Bowers who has also made it through to the semi finals.

The pair showed off their best moves for the viewers with Fred eventually announced as the winner!

Back to school for TV’s class act!

It was ‘back to school’ for Aidan Davis this week who has revealed he only told his classmates he was going on the show the day before.

The 12-year-old dancer is a pupil at Kings Norton’s St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School.

After appearing on the show his performance clocked up more than half a million hits on YouTube.

Aidan’s mum Mandy is absolutely amazed at the response he has received and first thought he was entering the show to play guitar.

She was amazed to find out the extent of his dancing skills after practising his break dancing in his bedroom for months:  ‘I honestly didn’t believe it was going to be anything like this,’ she said.

‘Because I’m his mum, it was great to see everybody else’s reactions – he was absolutely fantastic.’ she added.

Aidan on the breakfast TV sofa

Aidan appears on breakfast TV’s This Morning show and reveals his parents had no idea what he was going to do on Britain’s Got Talent.

He said they thought he was maybe going to sing or play guitar. But when he started practising his dance moves at home they gave him their full support.

‘I don't learn routines. I make my own moves up - then I might look on the internet and see another person doing it, but then alter it to my own way’, he told the show’s hosts Phillip and Fern.

He also pointed out that he didn’t think it would be awkward if her met last year’s Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson, also a dancer, because ‘ I have a different style of dancing’.

Aidan appeared on the show alongside chart superstars Boyzone.

May 17, 2009

Is he that good - you bet he is!

The bookmakers reacted to Aidan’s top class performance on Britain’s Got Talent my making him second favourite to win at odds of 7/2.

Clear favourite for this year’s title is Susan Boyle who wowed the audience with her impressive rendition of ‘I Dreamed a Dream’ from Les Miserables.

A star is born!

Birmingham schoolboy Aidan Davis turns in a blistering performance on the Britain’s Got Talent Show.

He captures the hearts of the nation and judging panel with his jaw-dropping break dance and body popping routine.

Aidan, who is completely self-taught, romps through to the next stage of the competition with three definite ‘yes’ votes from judges Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.

Simon Cowell tells Aidan he is the best dance performer he’s seen on the show since it began three years ago.

Talented George Sampson won the show in 2008 - now Aidan Davis will try to match that achievement, although he’ll have to do well to beat hot favourite Susan Boyle and other contenders including Hollie Steel, Natalie Okri, Shaheen Jafargholi and Jamie Pugh.
